Shoreline Festival

Geoff Trainor

Emily Haines' Sexy SilhouetteEverywhere I go people on PEI always complain about the music scene here or the lack thereof (Casey note: scene kids will tell you that there's lots of amazing local bands - there are a couple decent ones). You see, we are largely ignored as a potential stop in almost any tour a band does. But recently things have been looking up. This July is no exception.

July 8th, 9th, and 10th are the dates for the Shoreline Festival. Best described by the Shoreline website,

"Aided by wind power from Atlantic Canada's largest wind energy site, The Shoreline Festival is dedicated to the promotion of artists from the East Coast and around the world. Discover the natural beauty of the eastern shore of Prince Edward Island, Canada, and enjoy a weekend of music and art at the beach."

The line-up this year is excellent, including the likes of Metric, Buck 65, Joel Plaskett (see Mel's Plaskett review here), Kid Koala, and more. Which means I will be taking those three days off work . . . hopefully.

Ticket prices range from $55 (Online Only), or $65 (Advance) to $80 (Gate). Children under 10 get in free if accompanied by an adult so I may have to dress up Casey as my child.

Check back at later dates for more on the Festival and our coverage. For information regarding warm-up shows, check PEILocals.

Buck 65 - 463 Remix (Streaming)
Metric - Dead Disco (6 Meg Video)
Kid Koala - Like Irregular Chickens
Kid Koala - Roboshuffle

Clearly that's Geoff on the right.

Blogger Geoff Trainor said ... (29/5/05 1:44 am) :

That's why you look wanted the trophy.

I might have to make it out for that festival! Sounds like quite a deal.

Blogger mel said ... (29/5/05 8:43 pm) :

it boggles my mind that people at home seem more excited about the crappy acts playing the festival of lights than shoreline, which sounds like an awesome line up. Too bad I'm pretty sure I can't afford to go.

Blogger Geoff Trainor said ... (29/5/05 8:47 pm) :

Ha, festival of Lights does have Staind and Kalen Porter (sp?). That

Anonymous mOe said ... (30/5/05 12:50 pm) :

don't forget 3 doors down.
watch me jump for joy *cough*

the only band i wanna see is the trews.
but i'd have to endure lifehouse.

maybe i can score a free ticket this year...

Blogger Geoff Trainor said ... (30/5/05 3:23 pm) :

That's unfortunate

Blogger Casey Dorrell said ... (30/5/05 5:26 pm) :

Trews . . . rhymes with boos. Clever? I think so.

Blogger mel said ... (30/5/05 5:58 pm) :

The Trews put on a good show last summer at the festival of lights when they opened for Sam Roberts. Lifehouse is definately not enough of a draw to get me to go again though. They [Trews] are definately the best band playing, but that doesn't neccessarily mean much.

Blogger Casey Dorrell said ... (30/5/05 6:51 pm) :

Yeah, in my mind the trews are a generic rock band that get ridiculed less because they haven't quite made it. Doesn't make them any better. Staind's first album was actually half-way decent.

Anonymous mOe said ... (31/5/05 1:45 pm) :

i have their (the trews) album and enjoy most of it when i get around to playing it. though, i do agree with you, casey.

i've heard they put on a decent live show, so i'd like to see them.
but this time around it's just not worth it. besides, my money would be better spent on the shoreline festival.

i think i'll wait until they hit a smaller venue and i can get in under the guise of 'work'...

Blogger Casey Dorrell said ... (31/5/05 1:55 pm) :

ha ha, yeah, I've never seen them live I suppose.

Blogger Geoff Trainor said ... (31/5/05 10:14 pm) :

Don't they play at The Wave all the time? They always seem to be there.

Blogger mOe said ... (1/6/05 3:08 am) :

i don't think they do so much anymore. last time they were there greg (the former F.S. greg..) and i tried to get tickets (oh did we try... i think he still may be sour over that..)

that was awhile ago...

Blogger Geoff Trainor said ... (1/6/05 11:25 am) :

I'm sure they'll be back come September.

Blogger Casey Dorrell said ... (2/6/05 10:08 pm) :

well, he's sears greg now, and you're sears moe I guess.
