Thom Yorke Leaves Radiohead High & Dry

Geoff Trainor

Thom Yorke is planning to release a solo, a Radiohead album without the rest of Radiohead, in which he will use his own name on the cover. Due out in July, The Eraser will be produced by Nigel Godrich and cover art will be by Stanley Donwood, both of whom have had a long history with the band.

"I have been itching to do something like this for ages. It was fun and quick to do. Inevitably it is more beats & electronics. But its songs. Yes its a record! No its not a Radiohead record. As you know the band are now touring and writing new stuff and getting to a good space."

Yorke wishes to put fears of the apocalypse (Radiohead breaking up) to rest saying,

"I want no crap about me being a traitor or whatever splitting up blah blah... this was all done with their blessing. And I don't wanna hear that word solo. Doesn't sound right. Ok then that's that."

The album will be released on XL

Pretty exciting news to be sure. New Radiohead and a album by Thom Yorke to be released in a short period of time. If only I had some awesome music links to put with this post (see Related).

Could the Hook Line for the Title used here be anymore misleading?
