Ammending the Married

Casey Dorrell

In my list yesterday I missed a few interesting Avoidance Theory cover songs. Jesus pointed out that I also missed a band. A pretty obvious one at that: Over the Rhine. Oops.

The Forgotten

Over the Rhine
Over the Rhine weren't always a married duo. Earlier in their 15 year musical career they were neither married nor a 2-piece. Several years ago two members left but married couple, Karin Berquist and Linford Detweiler carried on. They make quiet music, often relying on acoustic guitar and piano. It's aptly called pretty, but it's not cute. Hushed, contemplative songs are Over the Rhine's bread and butter.

Over the Rhine - Moth
Over the Rhine - All I Need is Everything
Over the Rhine - Flown Free
Avoidance Theory - Steadier Footing (Death Cab for Cutie Cover)
Avoidance Theory - Waiting for the Moon (Belle & Sebastian)

Over the Rhine - Ohio

I love your site. It's my new favorite find. I'm so happy to see that you've included Over the Rhine. Just wanted to pass along that it's actually Karin rather than Kate. Thanks!
